20th Anniversary Season Launch!

Thank you to everyone who came out on the 6th of May to support Montreal's English language theatre season launch!

We are excited for the 25/26 season as we present a main production along with three translation workshops with public readings.

Our main production, co-produced with Centaur Theatre, is Seeker, written by Marie Claude-Verdier, translated by Alexis Diamond and directed by Rebecca Gibian.

The translation workshops are:

  • Chokola, by Phara Thibault translation by Malube Uhindu-Gingala;
  • Ice Floes, by Rébecca Déraspe translation by Leanna Brodie;
  • Noli, by Virginie Daigle translation by Alexis Diamond, co-production with Infinitheatre.
RESIDENCIES

Two of our playwright/translator teams have been accepted to the Playwright's Workshop Montreal Glassco Translation Residency in Tadoussac, QC.

  • Alexis Diamond & Marie-Claude Verdier to translate Seeker
  • Leanna Brodie & Rébecca Déraspe to translate Ice Floes (originally Les Glaces)

A ten day long intensive, the Glassco Residency will provide them with an environment for a free exchange of ideas, encouraging a nuanced and generative translation process.

RECENT ACTIVITIES

FIRST CHOKOLA TRANSLATION WORKSHOP

This first work period allows the translator to hear the text spoken aloud for the first time by an actor. With the author in the room, it is a powerful opportunity to receive feedback and exchange ideas.

WILDFIRE REMOUNT AT BISHOP'S UNIVERSITY

Thank you to the Trellis Micro Grant program for providing us with the opportunity to remount Wildfire at Bishop's University in April 2025. We produced three performances, held post-show talkbacks, and led a workshop with Bishop's students.
